Quit Your Job, Buy a Ticket

I profusely apologize for the MIA status
of the Pineapple Project this summer.
While one usually thinks of summer
as a time for rest and relaxation,
it has come to the attention of these bloggers
that that is the exact opposite of what happens!
However, without further ado, here are a few things that have
been inspiring me lately!

Find the Silver Lining

So a few months ago, I raved about
Matchbook magazine,
an online magazine claiming to be
a "field guide to a charmed life."
And let me tell you, I have become
addicted.
Not only do I love the magazine itself,
I love that it's online!
Meaning I can easily access past
issues as well as click on almost anything
in the magazine and be taken to it's website
immediately!

Well today, I have another fabulous online
magazine for you,
Rue magazine!
Rue is mostly interior design focused,
but it carries the same
fun/funky/prepster
vibe that Matchbook has!
I've spent most of the day
paging through past issues and,
let me tell you, I have fallen
in love with another online magazine!

swimmy suits

so the weather is finally toasty enough to open up the pool and i'm hungry for sweet suits. here are some of my faves for every shape!
pear shaped
these suits are perfect for pear-shaped ladies! the chunky wedges elongate the legs and dangly earrings draw attention to a perky chest.

boyish

ruffles maximize a boyish shape and flirty details give off an effortlessly feminine vibe.

hourglass
for sexy hourglass figures, a supportive top and streamlined bottoms are necessities. top off the look with skyscraper wedges and a spicy ring.

voluptuous

for voluptuous ladies, maximize your curves with a great suit. intricate detailing up top, a curve hugging bottom, and monochromatic accessories keep all eyes on you.

athletic

athletic ladies no doubt have fabulous bodies and tiny suits like these are perfect for showcasing them. pair with simple sandals and a flirty headband to keep everything in place for that active lifestyle.

enjoy and happy friday!

the hot list - may

the hot list - may
okay guys, so i'm having trouble adjusting to being able to do whatever i want/not being able to do anything (this crazy thing called work) and i haven't figured out my blog schedule yet, so bear with me. despite the five tornadoes that came at me from all angles tonight, i did manage to throw this list together and try to get back in the groove. here's my hot list for may:

1. braided bracelet: i love the earthy feel of the leather, but let's be honest, i've got to have some bling or i'm not going to wear it.

2. two-tone pumps: number one reason i love these: they go with twice as much stuff (and i've definitely got a lot of stuff).

3. stackable ring: i love the fact that you can sport a single sparkly band or ten brilliant bands and still land lots of looks.

4. half shirt: this look is definitely tricky to pull off, (especially on glamazons since being tall can make the shirt look like it shrunk in the wash) but with the right jeans, it could easily replace your favorite hole-ridden boyfriend tee (hint hint)...

5. nude flats: all the versatility of nude platforms, none of the pain.

6. knot necklace: a sexy twist on the statement necklace. (get it? twist? haha.)

7. champagne eyeshadow: what's not to love about an eyeshadow that makes your lids look saucy, instantly whips up a dewy lipgloss when layered under lip balm, and doubles as a highlighter for your cheekbones? yep. that's why it's hot.

8. vintage rock tee: it was awesome then...and hey! it's still awesome. pair it with some red lipstick and wild curls for a sexy upgrade.

9. orange lipstick: okay, this is definitely not for the faint of heart (trust me on this one, you can go horribly wrong), but if you take the time to test out a spectrum of juicy shades for a blue-based spicy mandarin, you'll get to enjoy instantly brighter pearly whites and finally meet the soulmate to your summer glow.

10. colored earbuds: i'm loving the simplicity of these brilliant little buds. you can mix and match with your favorite tech items    and they are considerably easier to find at the bottom of that black hole of a book bag.

what's on your hot list this month?

katy

Borrowing from Breakfast at Tiffany's: The Anti-LBD

Don't get me wrong,
the LBD is an essential to any girl's closet.
Holly shows us that rule in the opening scene!
But just as essential is the anti-LBD.
Some call it the LCD, the little colored dress,
but I believe that the anti-LBD doesn't
have to be colored... a fun metallic dress,
for example can serve the same purpose.
While the LBD is great, sometimes
occasions call for a little more pizzazz.
Look at Holly's pick for her anti-LBD:

Her dress is a fun shade of bubblegum pink
with a bow, textured fabric, and a coat to match!
Not to mention the pink bedazzled tiara I'm
sure my mother adores :)

A anti-LBD is the perfect go-to
when you know you want to look fun
and fabulous.
Beading, metallics, jewels, patterns, etc.
are all great assets to a perfect
anti-LBD.
Take a look at a few of my selections below!

Borrowing from Breakfast at Tiffany's: The Shirt

The first time Holly meets Fred,
she has just woken up and slips
into an oversized tuxedo shirt.

While she doesn't actually wear the shirt with
any outfit, she looks completely
adorable running around her apartment
in the makeshift tunic!
Below are just a few different options
to rock this classic staple on your own!

Borrowing from Breakfast at Tiffany's: The Trench

It will come as no surprise to
regular readers that one of my
absolute favorite parts of Holly Golightly's
wardrobe is her trenchcoat.
It always keeps her warm and dry
wherever she goes: be it at
the train station, down New York City alleyways,
and on her fire escape.

A trench can be worn over any outfit
and transform it's owner to the
epitome of class!
While a camel or tan color is always
a classic bet, a bright pop of color or
a print can be a fun way to
put your own spin on this classic!

Borrowing from Breakfast at Tiffany's: The Robe

One of the most often overlooked
parts of Holly Golightly's wardrobe is,
in my opinion, her robe!
When Fred comes by when
Holly isn't quite dressed, she just puts
her sassy orange robe on
and she's set!

Having a fun robe can not only make you
feel pampered and glamourous when your
putting on your makeup,
but, if you're in college, is a necessity
for the communal bath!
These options bellow will be sure to keep you
cute and covered!

Borrowing from Breakfast at Tiffany's: The Scarf

So the other night I was the only one awake in my house
(my sleeping hours are a bit different
from everyone else's)
and I had the sudden urge to watch
Breakfast at Tiffany's.
Now, it's not news that the movie is stylish,
it is Audrey after all,
but it is filled with more than just the LBD.
Holly Golightly, and Audrey Hepburn for that matter,
is the epitome of transatlantic class.
Every piece she wears can be a
springboard to transform anyone's wardrobe.
Holly's scarf, for example, is a staple
throughout the movie.
Whenever she wears it, it instantly makes
her outfit more glamourous!

Whether it's on your hat, neck, head, or bag,
you can use Holly's scarf trick on any outfit!

Below are some fun option to bring
into your own closet!

Birds of a Feather

Hello friends!
Sorry for our unexpected hiatus,
but schoolwork kind of got the best of us
and Katy and I decided to focus on that for most of April.
But now it is officially SUMMER!
We're done with classes, back at home (for the time being),
and ready to BLOG!

For my first post back, I want to talk about a trend
a few of my friends have been partaking in recently:
feathers!
While they're not particularly my style,
I LOVE them if you're rocking that
free spirit, indie-bohemian,
I-go-to-concerts-of-bands-you've-never-heard-of
look.
If you have no idea what I'm talking about,
here are a few of my friends sporting their feathers!

Have you seen this trend?
Do you like it?
Would you wear it?

I'm so glad to be back!

Love,
Caroline

Colorful Converters

I am not really that technology dependent.
(heavy sarcasm*)
In reality, there is hardly a moment in the day
when I'm not, in some way shape or form, "plugged in."
If I'm not on my computer, I've got my phone in my pocket.
Even when I'm asleep, my phone is charging
by my bed because I use it as my alarm clock.
So, when I think about studying abroad,
on of the first fears that comes to my mind
isn't about the language barrier
or the distance from home, but
"OH MY GOSH HOW AM I GOING TO CHARGE
MY ELECTRONICS?"
If you don't know, outlets can differ from country to country.
Now days, it's easy to go to your local Radio Shack or
what have you and pick up a converter.
They can be super bulky, though,
and really ugly.
However, I just spotted these on ModCloth,

Untitled
and, while they're already sold out
(I'm not surprised!)
there is always hope that
they'll restock!

Love,
Caroline
